Nose Threads

What Is Nose Threads

Nose threads are the best and most popular material in non-surgical nose-job procedures. They help change the shape of the nose and serve as fillers by increasing the volume of the nose bridge and lifting the nose tip by stimulating collagen.

So what makes them the go-to option for aestheticians? In contrast to the nose job, nose thread lift treatment is nonsurgical; the patient feels less discomfort, and the healing time is short.

They use L blunt cannula because it does not harm the blood vessels, has low bleeding incidences, and helps reduce swelling and bruising. It is effective in giving you that beautiful nose that you desire.

PDO Nose Threads vs. PCL Nose Threads

PDO and PCL nose threads are comparatively new nonsurgical treatments. When done properly, they will give you a well defined nose. However, due to the different materials used in PDO and PCL threads, there are some differences you may encounter:

✅Hardness: PDO nose threads are stiffer than PCL nose threads, though PCL threads have a polished surface. This has made the PCL nose threads very comfortable for patients, and inserting them will not cause pain.
✅Color: The PDO nose threads are blue, and the PCL is white and transparent.
✅High-temperature tolerance: The PDO suture can integrate heat up to 90 degrees Celsius, unlike PCL threads which can go as high as 60 degrees Celsius.

Nose Thread Lift vs Fillers

If you’re stuck wondering which one is better between nose thread lift versus fillers, then you’ll be surprised that they work differently but give the same similar result.

Both of them are all for adding volume and lifting the nose. They also non-surgical with little downtime, fast recovery, and although temporary, their effects last long. However, there are some major differences as below:

  • Duration: PDO nose threads can last up to 8 to 12 months, and PCL nose threads can last for 3-4 years. If you add nose dermal filler injections into the mix, the effects tend to last 6-12 months.
  • Disadvantages: While Nose threads pose no severe harm, guaranteeing independent dissolution, you may suffer inflammation, swelling, and skin redness. Furthermore, it can increase the soreness of the procedure, and one may feel uncomfortable. However, with a nose filler injection, you don’t have to take time off compared to other injection procedures. Also, fillers are known to cause minimal pain. However, both fillers and threads can cause allergies in terms of inflammatory reactions.
  • Healing time: Since PDO sutures are stiffer, there is a high chance of damaging the skin tissue and blood vessels, causing inflammation and redness. Depending on the degree of inflammation, it will take a week to 10 days to heal. On the other hand, the soft material that is PCL will not cause swelling or bruises. Moreover, the time required for regeneration will increase to two to three days.

Nose Thread Lift vs. Rhinoplasty

When we compare the two treatments, nose thread lifts and rhinoplasty, we know they are both effective. But the two are also different in some ways.

Procedure: A nose thread lift is an absolute no-knife procedure. We just insert the thread into the skin, and then the thread lifts and stimulates collagen to reshape the nose. Nonetheless, rhinoplasty is an invasive plastic surgery that alters the firm structure of the nasal and cartilaginous frameworks under anesthesia.
Duration: Nose thread lift is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, and the treatment effect lasts for a limited time. It tends to be repeated after one to four years. However, rhinoplasty has long-term effects in contrast to the others and can last several years.
Recovery: This aesthetic procedure will take 7-10 days to heal, whereas the surgical one, nose jobs, takes one month.
Benefit: Nose threading does not require surgery, takes minimum time to heal, and is completely natural. A nose job, on the other hand, provides really drastic changes to your nose.
Limitation: Nose thread lifts are not permanent and will cause swelling, bruises, and discomfort. Therefore, they are more appropriate for minor to moderate changes.

However, this means that rhinoplasty is more suitable for those who wish to experience significant and long-lasting changes.

How Many Nose Threads for Reshaping

When deciding the number of nose threads required for nose reshaping, the following factors must be looked into: the area to be covered, the present condition of the nose, and the desired outcome. Here are some suggestions based on the experience of Diaminy's CEO:

✅Treatment area: The quantity of threads used for nose bridge lifting is larger. We recommend using 10-15 pieces. The nose tip is smaller than the other parts, requiring fewer threads. Two or three threads should be enough.

✅Nose condition: For an exceptionally flat nose bridge, you may require as many as 12 to 15 to get the best outcome. If one wants to enhance the shape just a little bit, the user can add 4-8 pieces to make it more attractive. In the case of a low nose tip, 2-4 threads are used in the procedure to attain the desired result. In case you have a rather healthy nose tip, you will only require using 1-2 of these.

✅Ideal result: Generally, to attain a very natural look on the nose, you don’t need a lot of threads. 8-10 pieces is enough for nose bridge shaping. For the nose tip, 2 pieces are enough. However, if you desire a more pronounced and shapely result, you can use more threads: 3–4 pieces for the nose tip and about 10–15 for the nasal bridge.

If you wish to have a nose thread lift treatment, we recommend approaching a professional. They will advise you on what they think will give you that beautiful nose you desire.

Nose Thread Lift Procedure

The nose thread lift is safe, but must be planned if a specific result is desired. Here’s how to prepare for your nose thread lift procedure:

  • Consultation and Assessment: Make visits to your practitioner to ascertain your eligibility for the procedure.
  • Preparation:  The practitioner will clear the area before applying a numbing cream or local anesthesia to make the procedure bearable.
  • Marking the Nose: The practitioner then makes a small sketch showing the places where the threads will be inserted, most commonly at the dorsal nasal line and at the tip of the nose. Care is taken to ensure maximum precision to produce the intended symmetry.
  • Insertion of Threads: The threads are strategically inserted to help lift and contour the nasal bridge or tip and give the nose a more defined or raised look.
  • Adjustment and Shaping: Once the threads are in place the practitioner then pulls the ends of the thread in a way that will create the desired shape and lift. They are then cut to the appropriate length so that there is no manifestation of a lift on your skin.

Nose Thread Lift Aftercare

While nose thread lift is an entirely non-surgical procedure, and while different techniques exist – some are relatively painless and do not require any rest, others are invasive and can hurt the skin tissue. Therefore, ensuring that the proper aftercare is offered to the patient will help ensure that one recuperates as soon as possible and minimizes any side effects. And how do you do it? Here we list some tips for the aftercare of the nose lift treatment:

🌸If you apply an ice pack to the affected area to reduce the swelling and bruise in the first 12 or 24 hours, you will be relieved in the next 24 hours or in the next two days.
🌸Do not take spicy foods to avoid inflammation and allergy after the treatment.
🌸Do not take wine and do not smoke to avoid complications and thus quick recovery.
🌸Do not use your fingers to pat your nose or push it to try to keep it in the required shape for quicker healing.
🌸Wait to wash off the treated area within three days after applying the solution.
